Note: Dixie
Stampede has closed as of 01/07/2007.
Apparently their land was worth enough
money that Dolly herself could not pass
up the offer from the neighboring Outlet
mall. There are plans to reopen in a new
location yet to be determined. We finally got a chance to try out Dixie Stampede on the day after Thanksgiving (11/26/2005)... they had the Christmas show in full swing and was pretty entertaining.
The pre show was a lot of fun and unlike many other dinner shows you are able to sit down at tables and the pre
show bar was fully staffed so it wasn't to hard to get a
small wine, beer or frozen non-alcohol drink, there wasn't a wait what so ever .
Couple of things to keep in mind.
1)
Buy your tickets
at a discount!
You actually will receive a voucher that
needs to be redeemed at the Dixie
Stamped ticket counter.
2) You need reservations. 866-443-4943
3) Your seats are assigned when you get your printed ticket so don't try to bust down the doors!
4) There is (of course) a pre show picture so again, don't try to bust down the doors.
5) Don't "pre buy" your drinks... it
saves you like $.50 on each drink but
you don't know how many you will drink
and besides even though they say you get
2 drinks with your meal (beer & wine)
they don't really count them so just
leave your glass on the table/counter
and they will keep topping it off.
6) Tip is not included and they really do work hard.
The meal was pretty good as well and is above par for the shows around here... the little whole roasted chicken was very moist and full of flavor (well, it is almost entirely white meat!).
As for the show, well, it was OK but my kids and family
agreed the Arabian Nights show made better use of their horses but I really like how Dixie Stampede does set changes.
Is it worth it? Ya, probably for most folks it is... but if your on a budget then Arabian Nights might be a better option but only slightly.
