Miami Dolphins Through Week 5
Here we are five weeks into the NFL season and the Dolphins are at a mediocre 2-2 record. In week one, the Dolphins faced the Buffalo Bills. Last season, after Chad Pennington went down, Chad Henne took over as the starting quarterback for the Dolphins and managed to do a pretty decent job. With explosive targets like Marshal and Devon Bess and the power running of Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, the Dolphins pulled off a 15-13 victory over the Buffalo Bills. Chad Henne passed the ball for 182 yards, Brandon Marshall had 8 receptions for 53 yards and Ronnie Brown rushed for a hard earned 65 yards and 1 touchdown, not to mention 2 field goals from Dan Carpenter.

Although the offense did the job they were supposed to against the Bills, it was the defense that really stood out in this game. The Dolphins started their defensive series off with a sack from the 7 year veteran, Karlos Dansby. The Dolphins defense managed to hold the Bills to only 166 yards, which is pretty impressive if you think back to their lackluster season the previous year. It seemed that the Dolphin's offense and defense were in sync with one other and that certainly aided in the victory. With the first game of the season over, the Dolphins are 1-0 and we are feeling pretty good about the team. However, the next week the Dolphins faced the potentially explosive Minnesota Vikings, led by Bret Favre.
Although I was confident that the Dolphins would have great game, especially after witnessing their performance the previous week, I was afraid the Bret Favre would somehow work his magic and lead the Vikings to victory. After all, Favre does have a reputation for slicing, dicing and picking defenses apart. However, I felt really good when I saw that the Dolphins elected to kick the ball instead of receiving after winning the coin toss. I guess my gut feeling was correct because the Dolphins won that game by the score of 41-10.
After week two, the Dolphins dropped two in a row to division rivals. The first was a heartbreaker to the New York Jets, by the score of 31-23 in a Sunday night game. The second game was just a disaster, losing to the New England Patriots 41-14. I was so angry that I turned this game of early. It was not the fact that we lost; it was the fact that the Pat's special team scored three of those touchdowns. Anyhow, we can not dwell in the past, so we must look forward to the next game against the Green Bay Packers.

The Dolphins have a much needed BYE week and I am sure that they are going to sit and review everything that went wrong in the Patriot's game. After firing special teams coach John Bonamego, the Dolphins hope to find the answer that the special teams need by replacing Bonamego with assistant special teams coach Darren Rizzi. The Green Bay Packers are a tough team and with the hot handed Aaron Rogers throwing the rock to weapons like Donald Driver, Greg Jennings and Jermichael FInley, the Dolphins are going to have their work cut out for them. Not only do the Dolphins need to look out for the Packer's offensive, but they are going to have to put up some points against a tough defense.
I am confident that Miami's special teams are going to step up in this game, they kind of have to. I also believe that Chad Henne will lead the offense to victory over the Packers. The Dolphins must put the combination of Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams in to the secondary of the Packer's defense and Henne must make it known that he has more than just one weapon, Marshall, that he can throw the ball to. If he can show that Packers that other targets, such as Bess and Fasano, that will open up Marshall for some big plays. The Dolphin's defense is ranked the top ten, so I think that they will keep the Packer's offense in check. However, the Dolphins are going to have to bring their A game in this match against a strong Packers team.
