You can look at this place in one of two ways—as a sort of rundown glorified buffet or as a cool, unique place to take a dip back into the world of gangsters and speakeasies.
Let’s start with the negative just to get it out of the way. This place offers a buffet, which is advertised by having the freshest food selection around—as opposed to other area themed restaurants whose dishes are plated prior to your arrival. But who’s to say how fresh buffet food is? Not to mention, the idea of a cafeteria-style buffet is, to some people, sort of exemplary of a dive. Nonetheless, time to move on to the draws of this place.
First off, there’s the location. This is pretty decent because it’s on 192, which is in a tourist district and a fairly short drive from area theme parks.
The ambiance is pretty cool. Aside from a few attractions within the Orlando theme parks, you won’t really find an entire Chicago 1930’s-style hotspot anywhere else in town. From the hair, makeup and costumes all the way to the dialect, the talented staff certainly attempts to take you back in time.
From the moment you walk in, you’ll be greeted by costumed actors who interact with you. And there are plenty of photo opportunities. During the show, you will be exposed to acting, singing and dancing, all done with a comedic approach. Some will say this is quite cheesy while others seem to find it funny and well worth the money. You can decide for yourself.
Now, back to the menu… yes, it is a buffet. And, yes, this may be frowned upon by some. But for all you gluttons and anyone who simply enjoys buffet-style gatherings, you will be pleased with the varied selection and cafeteria seating that enhances group interaction and crowd participation. They offer everything from garden salad, pasta salad and breadsticks to lasagna, pasta and ham. And there are special desserts too.
Oh, and they do offer unlimited drinks that are factored into the ticket price. These include Bud Light draft, Rum Runners, rum & colas, Cape Cods, white zinfandel, merlot, chardonnay, soda, iced and hot tea, coffee, cranberry juice, fruit punch and special kids’ drinks. So, if nothing else, maybe you should go for the drinks!
And after you’re done eating and drinking, watching the show and exploring the place, you also get the chance to purchase souvenirs.
Special offerings include group bookings, private group shows and a special kids’ musical theatre group experience.
They do offer some good deals so, if you do want to check out Capone’s Dinner Show, be on the lookout for them. These include half-off tickets, as well as free admission for teachers and discounted admission for chaperones, for both of whom traveling with student groups.
