The Nickelodeon Suites Resort in Orlando is far from your average resort even by Orlando standards! This resort offers 2 water parks, a kids spa, mini golf, basketball, poolside entertainment, character dining, 4D movies and live stage shows. My family and I recently spent 3 fun filled days at this resort just to take it all in and learn some nice tips along the way. Scroll down for a discount!

The resort offers 3 Nickelodeon-branded suite types most with fully equipped kitchens and private family rooms. Some of these suites can accommodate up-to 8 people, comfortably. The 32 inch LCD in the family room as well as the TV's in the bedrooms offer movies and games on demand ranging in prices from $6 - $10. The suites offer either pool or parking view with coin laundry conveniently available. The only complaint we had about the layout was the wait for the elevators but even this wasn't too bad during peak times. From our room on the top floor to the pool entry gate was about 5 mins with our walk to the "The Mall" being about the same. From our experience it would appear that buildings 6 & 7 would be ideal which are situated between the main pool and the mall.

Now for the special part of this resort, the entertainment! Most every resort offers a pool but this resort goes far beyond just a pool, in fact the resort actually has 2 water parks. "The Lagoon" has a 4 story interactive water tower with a regular "Mass Sliming" and plenty to do for all ages. I felt safe allowing my 5 year old son to play on the tower by himself, he spent 30 minutes just dumping water on unsuspecting guest's heads from high above and he is easily bored. This area also offers a hot tub, poolside interactive entertainment, mini golf, pool bar, snack shop, kids play area, basket ball and private cabanas which are available for about $180 per day. "The Oasis" also has an interactive tower, kids area, pool bar, private cabanas and hot tub. Most everything is free with the exception of the pool bar which is consistent with pool side prices ($8+ for mixed drinks). Don't forget to return your towels that you checked out!

Feeling water logged yet? Head over to "The Mall" for some more fun. Here you will find entertainment, a kids spa, character meet and greets, guests services, dining, drinks and shopping.

The 4-D Experience: This is one of very few things that is an extra charge at $6.95 for 1 movie or an unlimited wrist band available for $12.95. The theater features 7 different movies and is your typical 4-D experience, from this reviewer's perspective, you can skip it. The movies change every 20 minutes so a family could feel this is money well spent but bring your jacket, it is wicked cold in there (really, a jacket is required).

Studio Nick: Live interactive stage shows featuring characters, games, pies and of course, slime with seating for 200+. Make reservations by visiting guests services or dialing 601. Be sure to arrive 20 minutes before the show for the best seats. This theater also transforms into a Karaoke hot spot at 11 with no reservations required.

Character Meet and Greet: Plenty of Nick favorites to see and photograph on a regular schedule. Characters change every 30 minutes so make-sure to arrive early for the more popular characters being that the line sometimes exceeds the appearance time.

Kids Spa: Pamper your kids with a manicure, pedicure, hair braiding, or airbrushed temporary tattoos. Tattoos start at about $6 and the rest of the services range from about $10 - $40 per service with packages available.

Nick.com Computer Lounge: Kiosk computers with access Nick.com

Code 9 Teen Lounge: Dedicated to only those 13-19. Hang out, listen to music, grab a drink and play some games not to mention giving your teens an opportunity to "chill out" and they might just return minus some of that long vacation attitude.

Nick Stuff: Well, it's all your favorite Nickelodeon-brand gear and gifts. Don't forget your take home slime (no worries, warm water washes it away).

Other Stuff: Groceries, alcohol, snacks, and candy. Note to smokers, they do not sell cigarettes and the nearest carry out is a nightmare to get to so bring those with you.

Food Court: Uno's Pizza, The Grill, Subway, Barnie's Coffee, Nicktoon's Cafe and the Nick Bar. Just don't expect street prices here. For example, a 9 inch deep cheese pizza is $20.

Nicktoons Cafe: Character breakfast with a full serving of all breakfast items including a made to order Omelet bar!

Arcade: Featuring games of chance and skill that award tickets that can be redeem for prizes. The whole arcade is completely digital including the coin systems and ticket system. Ski-ball, Hoops and other arcade favorites.

Guest Services: Make your reservations for all the resort has to offer here or dial 601.

Ticket Services: You can purchase Orlando area attraction tickets here on site at the Nick Hotel but to save some money you should visit our ticket broker, Maple Leaf Tickets or by calling 888-939-2432

Transportation: Regular free transportation is provide to Universal Studios, SeaWorld, Wet n' Wild and Walt Disney World with varying schedules (schedules here).

We really enjoyed the resort and it's no wonder why they have received Orlando Sentinel's "Best Family resort in 2009 among other recognitions such as Travel Channel's "Extreme Resort for Kids" and Trip Advisor's "Top 10 Best Pools".

Nickelodeon Suites is not to be missed! I highly encourage you to consider this resort for your next Orlando vacation and for a special unadvertised discount call us at 888-939-2432 (option 1). I'd recommend this resort to just about anyone but especially for those interested in experiencing all that the area has to offer (not just Disney World).

Pros: Convenient to most Orlando attractions and less than a mile from Disney World, suites with room for a large family, mega water fun, free live shows, destination in itself.

Cons: Pools could be open a bit later, a bit pricey for a shoestring budget, no input access on the TV's for like a DVD player or computer, no WiFi in room (paid Ethernet is available).
