Universal Orlando Resort 2010 Halloween Horror Nights

(0 votes, average 0 out of 5)

For those of you who may have gotten bored with the recycled themes and costumes of Halloween Horror Nights, you still might want to consider attending this year. Universal Orlando Resort will be hosting its 20th year of Halloween Horror Nights in 2010, so there may be some extra spooktacular features. Die-hard fans don’t need to be reminded of this, because you are already well aware of the event’s history.

For those of you who haven’t attended this event, here’s a little background.

The first Halloween Horror Nights was held in 1991, at Universal Studios Florida, and only featured one haunted house. The first scarezone was introduced in 1994, and the scarezones have since become key visitation points.

It has not only grown expansively but has become one of the largest and most popular Halloween events. And in recent years the event has been split up between both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, the two parks that make up Universal Orlando Resort. The event began as just a few nights per year and has since grown to take over more than 20 nights in the Fall.

Past event icons have included the Cryptkeeper, Jack the Clown, The Director, The Storyteller, Bloody Mary and The Usher. In addition to scarezones and icons, the event has been known for things like rides being renamed and having fun back stories go along with them, haunted houses, special shows, mazes, 3-D experiences and of course all of the dynamic stunts, special effects, gory makeup and elaborate costumes.

Though there has not yet been an official unveiling of what’s to come in 2010, speculation includes a reunion of past characters coming together to celebrate the 20-year anniversary. Hopefully there will be some extra-special attractions, shows and characters involved in this celebratory event!

At last year’s event there was a prelude to 2010 with the Shadows of the Past scarezone that featured some popular characters of previous Halloween Horror Nights.

Will the event take place in both parks? Who will be the icon? How many scarezones and haunted houses will we see? And, what will be the main theme?

As the event has grown in popularity, so has technology. Fortunately for us, that means we will eventually get exposed to a Web site designed specifically for this event. And if 2010 is anything like recent yeas, we can expect some online interaction experiences and an elaborate storyline on the site that will go along with the chosen theme.

Be on the lookout for the theme unveiling. This could be a fun one to go whether you go every year, have skipped out the past few years or have never been to this event.
