Best Time of the Year to plan an Orlando Golf Vacation

All of Florida is renowned for the many golf courses the state has to offer, as well as the beautiful year round weather that makes playing golf ideal. Every single year, millions of people flock to the thousands of golf courses that populate this sunny state, but what is the absolute best time to of the year to plan an Orlando golf vacation? Quite possibly the best time to head to Orlando for some golf and sun is in the early fall, as temperatures are still pleasant and warm, but less people are there as school is back in session and you will not have to fight off the hordes of crowds that descend upon Florida in the spring and summer.

Why Not Winter?

Many people might think that the winter would be the best season for golfing in Orlando, but there are a few reasons why this is not so. First of all, while Florida only experiences a very mild winter season, it can get downright cold, even in central Florida, in the middle of the winter. In December of 2010, record lows were experienced as far south as Miami, with a deep freeze even setting in all over the state. Not exactly ideal golfing conditions and while this occurrence was rare, it can happen and would ruin a perfectly planned golf vacation.

Another reason why winter is not ideal for an golfing vacation to Orlando is that even though the weather is not as nice, most golf courses do not have special winter rates. Meaning you are paying just as much to play golf in unseasonable, and often very cold, weather. There is more rain in the winter and rain plus cold means a very unhappy golfer!

Plan Your Orlando Golf Vacation for Autumn

Late summer and early fall, like September and October, are ideal times for a golf vacation in Orlando because the weather is usually close to perfect. The weather is not as hot or humid as it can be in the height of the summer, but it is still very pleasant for golfing. Most families and even professionals without children take their vacations in July and August, meaning there are more available hotel rooms and less crowds on the course and at nearby restaurants and shops. Flights are cheaper than during popular vacation times as well, so you can save more than at any other time of the year.

Plan your next Orlando golf vacation for the early fall and you will be happily surprised by the beautiful weather, cheaper rates on Orlando Vacation rentals and flights, and less people in the area.
