Orlando Taxi Cab (car hire) scam

After months of planning and a long flight you exit the airport and seek out transportation to your resort hotel. There are plenty of cabs, town cars and limos ready welling to whisk you off and you are ready to get a move on excited about the fun that is about to begin in sunny Florida but wait, getting scammed is all to easy so here is some advice on how to avoid a common one in Orlando and many other places I'm sure.
Avoid the round trip scam. Your driver starts of with some good news, you can save some time and money by simply paying for a round trip now. You pay your driver now, in cash and you will receive a voucher for your return trip. The problem is that the voucher is useless. Often times these drivers will claim to work for a major transportation company like Mears for example but the truth is that they are independent and are only looking to get paid double what they normally get paid. They are not all scams and there are legitimate round trip providers but you can avoid all of this by booking your transportation ahead of time. Also keep in mind that the voucher they give you is usually a copy a legitimate one so calling the number on the ticket is not necessarily validation.
I use and trust Quick Silver Transportation here in Orlando. You can either book online or by calling 888-468-6939. Please mention this site when you do so (shameless, I know).
I personally prefer to use a company like Quick Silver because they send a Towncar or a Limo (a little more expensive) which are much nicer than a majority of the cabs out there.
